Assistant Professor of Sustainability at Hofstra University
Dr. Sasha Pesci is an Assistant Professor of Sustainability in the Geology, Environment, and Sustainability Department at Hofstra University. Dr. Pesci's research centers on understanding how food systems can be more sustainable and equitable. Recent research projects include an examination of how direct-market farmers experience and navigate the trend toward market digitalization and a project that examines participation, equity, and sustainability of composting in NYC across municipal and community-based systems.
Dr. Pesci holds a B.S./B.A. in Environmental Science and Geography from Stetson University, an M.A. in Geography from the University of California, Davis, and a Ph.D. in Geography and Feminist Theory and Research from the University of California, Davis.
